Tomas Weiss, the name - el culto - and the idea and conviction involved have always stood for far more than a " mere " literal musical concept. In spite of all our attempts at explanations since the project was launched almost 8 years ago, most people still wrongly assume that our main concern is only with sound storage systems, club life, the party scene or selling the latest music to anybody and at any price.

Wrong - precisely the opposite is the case - at the basis of our wide-ranging philosophy / ideology there stand concepts such as :
|
|
|
|
|
 |
musical innovation
|
|
|
open mind and attitude
|
|
|
protection of the environment and of animals
|
|
|
freedom and responsibilty-awareness of the individual
|
|
|
the courage to live and act according to ones convictions
|
|
|
opposition to the abuse and the playing-down of the danger of drugs
|
|
|
|
Above all, the topics environment, the protection of animals, and experiments on animals are central values for us, since in spite of some public campaigning these aspects relevant to life on our planet in the future are not even understood, let alone accepted by most people. If dignity and life mean anything at all, we humans have no right to consider ourselves " godlike ", allowed to breed or adapt prison-loads of other living creatures according to our whims and needs.
It is our aim to make people do more than merely say "...yes, you are right...that is really terrible and cruel ", and then see them carry on as usual their daily feeding on dead flesh as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Human beings are not born with this paranoid, grotesque attitude, and it can be changed. That is why we wish to provoke a serious re-thinking in the minds of all consumers who, thanks to their unreflected consumption, at least share responsibility and are perhaps principally responsible for current circumstances and the continuing destruction of our planet ( the function of supply and demand ).
One does not need to be a prophet to foresee that the continuation of the present social system, represented by that raging and rapacious being called mankind, will, in the near future, mean the end of the entire planet earth. This is more or less clearly confirmed even by scientific knowledge, facts are muted in the interests of political or financial power considerations and in order to avoid mass disturbances. Increasingly powerful capitalistic systems have long since swallowed the majority of the political scene or secured its dependence. A political solution in the form of a limitation or regulation of the reckless destruction and exploitation of global natural resources and human capital ( meaning the hominid life form degraded to consumer, an exploding world population becoming ever cheaper as it becomes ever more numerous ) is therefore at present not to be expected.

It is our most earnest endeavour to find people by means of the language of music who reject this degenerate slave to consumption which is now the spirit of our society and who are willing to enter into a new alliance with nature and life, in other words to be an ally of a worthwhile future. Every individual who helps to fight against the decay of our world is already making one of numerous positive contributions to our future. The first step in this direction would be to spend a quiet moment in critical and honest reflection on ones own attitude and habits so far.

For us, music ist not a commodity made for profit, commercialised, exploited and poisened by the new media; it is a deeply personal form of expression of inmost feelings, attitudes and thoughts. For this reason our music is at once reflection and vision, or communication from the creator, and NOT a commodity made for a mass audience. The musical sounds we make are intended to offer space for anybody interested in this spiritual world and to give birth to further spiritual impulses.
In contrast to traditional music, which is often presented only to gain public attention and is without any content, our music stands in a firm bond with an ideology, which is first of all meant to excite curiosity. It is evident that this form of musical expression will be loved as well as hated. Since the greater part of the world of music has mutated meanwhile into a gooey, bog-like " mass processing market " devoid of content, a market which is in part also abused for any sort of situation in life, we should like to state the following quite clearly : We do not see ourselves as a diplomatic instance trying somehow to please even the smallest-minded.

All Tomas Weiss´ musical projects are therefore not suited for the following persons or " ideologies " and are absolutely excluded intellectually from the work !

people who publicly profile their own ego with the works of others
|
|
|
anybody who adapts and misuses ideologically related art for other purposes
|
|
|
everbody who consciously contributes in any way to the destruction of the planet
|
|
|
people who regard their specie as the highest point of evolution or the measure of all things
|
|
|
people, institutions and religions whose aim is slavery or the restriction of freedoms
|
|
|
people who welcome a continued uncontrolled growth of the earth´s population
|
|
|
people with an " I don´t care " attitude
|
|
|
people without an opinion of their own and also those with a " don´t want to see, hear or say anything " syndrome
|
|
|
prominent people in leading positions who have nothing to say and no values to impart
|
|
|
weak-willed " consumer people " suited only to following trends
|
|
|
people in political and public office who are incapable of acting and who make statements in the language of the kindergarten
|
|
|
all forms of pirate copiers
|
|
|
people who cause damage out of greed or for fun
|
|
|
|
Meanwhile obvious negative and damaging behaviour is more or less accepted or ignored in public. So, although these restrictions may sound harsh or radical to many people they became nescessary - unfortunately !
Of course these restrictions are not a " general protection " for us, but we assume that these people will start to think again and maybe even much more - and exactly this encouragement to rethink is our intention.

In conclusion: we of - el culto - want to shake your hand and invite you to strive with us to lead a peaceful and respectful life, without the necessity to build over and over again egotistical barriers. Let us not destroy the beautiful creation of Life!
The common statement : we are strong when acting as a community in solidarity and with a common goal - may have worn a little thin, yet it remains true. As often before in our past embracing this principle helps to bring forth change.

All my work exists within the context of the ideology descibed here. Each element of my music with every thinkable emotion is devoted in great humility to the maltreated creatures and the destroyed natural environments of our planet, and is my personal apology for the suffering which human beings have caused and continue to cause them. In great distress at being a member of the human race myself, I turn my back on the prevailing system and declare my solidarity with exploited and oppressed creature / nature. In so doing I endeavour to do my utmost to preserve what was once a paradise.
- Do not speak of a better future, but act in the present -
